Lions playoff victory was just getting there

I know, I know, it's a bit cliche to say it, but it's true. The Lions didn't need to win the wildcard game against the Saints.

Sure it would have been nice, but it was necessary to have a successful season. The Lions this year were nothing short of spectacular.

Yes there were ups (starting 5-0 perhaps) and there were downs (The Suh incident) and there was some average play from the defense.

Ultimately what there was though, was a 10 win season, and the first play-off appearance in more than a decade. sure as a fan I wanted more, but I didn't expect it; and I'm not disappointed that I didn't get it.

This was not the Lions of old, this was a team full of life, and plenty fun to watch. The major upside though, is that outside of the ageless Jason Hanson, the entire team is young and only has room to improve.

And improve they will. Free agents will want to come here now that they know we can win. This team is a couple of linebackers away from being spectacular.

The only bad thing about this season is that the Lions will not be getting a top 10 draft pick because they played so well. I guess that's something that we fans will all just have to deal with.
